“The first chef walks in, sits down at the table, and coldly stares at Jim’s resume. “Can you write down a recipe for me?” he asks Jim, “There’s a whiteboard over there, can you write down your preferred recipe for crème brûlée?”
Unlimited Novelty: “Can you solve this problem for me on the whiteboard?” I do sometimes interview using whiteboard coding and/or programming questions that aren’t directly related to what I work on day to day, but I’m increasingly unsure why, and have much less tolerance for brain teasers than I used to.
